A medium-sized company in the furniture industry was looking for a solution to make its production monitoring data transparent, available in real time and across all locations. Following the successful reorganization of the production processes, the aim was to digitally map the new workflows - while maintaining an overview of current orders and production steps at all times.

Together with Partake, a customized application was created that intelligently links planned and actual data, supports operational processes and ensures greater transparency and controllability in production.

Aim of the project

The aim was to create a central online platform that visualizes the production status on a daily basis and at the same time seamlessly supports operational tasks such as the creation of picking lists. The solution should be able to be used both by plant management for analysis and directly in production for control purposes.

The solution intelligently links planning and production data and makes complex processes transparent and controllable.


Production planning data includes orders with target dates, items, sub-items and processing sequences across all production areas. They are supplemented by live data from production, such as machine confirmations, picking and loading - for each individual part produced.


A central feature: the system comparison between target and actual data allows the precise calculation of whether a part is "on schedule" or not. The results are aggregated from different perspectives - for example by department, order or truck route - and visualized in interactive dashboards.

Measures & technologies in detail

Longview Analytics and a relational Oracle database were used for the implementation.

The application is implemented as a web solution and is used at two company locations - each in its own technical instance with its own database, server and application.

Functions in detail:

  • Live monitoring of the production status with filter and drill-down functions
  • Error analysis by tracing the processing history of individual parts
  • Display on large displays in the production halls for maximum transparency on site
  • Automated PDF picking lists, for structured loading of components
  • Listing of missing parts for certain truck tours or departments in order to be able to react quickly and stay on schedule.

Challenges & solutions

The digital solution had to combine various requirements:

  • map a complex production logic,
  • evaluate large amounts of data in real time,
  • while remaining intuitive to use for all user groups.

Our approach: a modular, high-performance web application that takes various user needs into account - from strategic analysis on the desktop to a quick view on the store floor. The separation into two independent instances per plant also ensures maximum reliability and flexibility for further developments.

Results & added value

The system has been in live operation for several years and is regularly developed further - based on ideas and feedback directly from production, among other things. The solution not only improves transparency, but also encourages employees in production to take responsibility for their own work.
