Digitize production controlling
Today's production managers face the challenge of efficiently digitizing their processes while maintaining an overview of key performance indicators. Data plays a crucial role in this: it provides precise insights and creates the basis for well-founded decisions.
In this example, we show how we helped a company to digitize its production controlling using existing Oracle licenses and create a modern, automated solution.
Initial situation
The customer already had Oracle licenses and wanted to use them to modernize production controlling. The previous Excel reporting was to be replaced by a centralized and automated solution.
The objectives of the project included replacing the Excel reporting, setting up master data, automatic data supply and the visualization of key KPIs such as OEE, GAE and scrap.
The goal
The manual Excel reporting was to be replaced by an automated system.

- Structure of master data
- Automatic provision of data
- Visualization of key figures such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and rejects
- Visualize important KPIs in production
The solution
A combination of Oracle database for data provision and OBIEE for the reports was used. These two tools were able to play to their strengths in combination.
Initially, we developed a customized data architecture to connect the different data sources. The data warehouse was then set up, which collects and processes the various production data centrally. Dashboards and reports were used to present the data clearly.
We attached particular importance to ensuring that everything complied with the company's corporate identity and developed our own designs for this. We worked closely with the specialist department, provided the data for the front end, documented the project and carried out tests to ensure that everything worked smoothly and could be operated by the client on their own.
The result
The project was successfully completed and all defined goals were achieved. Our customer now benefits from a modern, automated solution that makes production controlling considerably simpler and more efficient. Here are the most important improvements:
- A data warehouse (DWH) was set up to centrally record the monthly production data.
- The data can now be loaded semi-automatically into the DWH via process control.
- Important key figures, such as OEE and scrap, are visualized and clearly displayed in OBIEE.
- The customer's requirements in terms of centralization and automation were met in full.
The customer was very satisfied with the quality of the work and now uses the improved data availability and clear visualization of production data to make more efficient decisions.
